In order to maintain some semblance of sanity during lockdown, I set about playing through all 555 sonatas that Scarlatti composed. The result is this recording where I've selected some of my favourites, some well-known sonatas, and others that allowed me to luxuriate in the intimate sound world of Scarlatti that we don't usually hear. Recorded in Rome over 2 days in June 2020 at the Casa del Jazz on a Yamaha S7X. Available in digital format (Apple music, Amazon, etc), streaming and physical CD.
A feast of delectable pieces from over 150 years of English keyboard music from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The first six tracks were recorded on a muselar virginals from 1641. I’ve been fascinated with English music of the virginalists for a very long time and am delighted to share this incredibly profound and often very quirky music. Available only on all the streaming and digital channels, Spotify, Apple, Amazon, etc., not as a physical CD.

Who can resist the humour and wit of Joseph Haydn? Two of his sonatas open this recording and then we are plunged into the sound world of Claude Debussy with “Hommage à Rameau” and the Suite Bergamasque. Recorded in Rome in August 2021. A beautiful image by Andrea Ferolla graces the cover and a booklet text in English, French and Italian guides the listener through the choice of programme.
